Discover the meditative art of Japanese rock wrapping, an ancient practice of encasing natural stones in intricate patterns of woven cord. Traditionally used to honor and preserve objects found in nature, this technique transforms simple stones into objects of beauty and reflection. The slow, intentional process of wrapping invites stillness, focus, and presence — creating a deeply calming and mindful experience.
In this workshop, we’ll explore both rock wrapping and driftwood wrapping using natural cane. Each piece becomes a unique sculpture, balancing structure and flow, tradition and creativity. Whether you create a decorative accent for your home or simply enjoy the process, this practice is as much about meditation as it is about art.
Guided by artist Bob Ritchie, you’ll learn step-by-step wrapping techniques and leave with your own hand-wrapped stone or piece of driftwood — along with the knowledge to continue the practice at home.
